Winter: Frank Martin's Mass

The Master Singers of Virginia, a 34-member choral ensemble under the direction of Dr. Erik Jones, continues its 15th anniversary season with concerts in February and March, featuring Frank Martin’s Mass, his stunning a cappella masterpiece for double choir.Artistic Director Dr. Jones describes the Mass as, "… one of the two greatest a cappella works ever written, standing alongside the Rachmaninoff Vespers in its grandeur and construction. No listener will be unmoved by its power."

In addition to the Martin Mass, the Master Singers will perform Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere, Henryk Gorecki’s Broad Waters and works by Ernani Aguiar, Maurice Ravel and Jack Halloran. The variety of musical styles being performed will allow the audience to fully appreciate the Master Singers’ trademark flexibility and unique blending of voices.
