MSVA 2010-2011 Season

The Master Singers is the premiere mixed choral ensemble in Northern Virginia, dedicated to bringing the highest quality choral music to the people of the Washington, D.C. region. Concentrating primarily in 20th- and 21st-century a cappella music, the Master Singers use their concerts to enrich, educate, and entertain their audiences.

Urmas Sisask's Magnificat

Our Christmas 2010 concerts feature Urmas Sisask's a cappella masterpiece, his 12-movement Magnificat. The concerts also includes familiar songs of the season, as well as remarkable music from Latvia, Africa, England, and South America. Click here for details.

Songs of Life and Celebration

This marvelous and diverse concert features music that celebrates life and worship. It includes new music by Estonian composers Veljo Tormis and Rene Eespere, three works by Norwegian composer Knut Nystedt, and a number of spirituals and folk songs new to our repertoire this season. Durufle's Requiem

For this special concert, the Master Singers perform modern choral music with organ accompaniment. In addition to Durufle's sublime Requiem, this concert also includes Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, and the Dorchester Canticles by one of the most exciting new voices in choral music, young Irish composer Tarik O'Regan.
